Christ the Cornerstone Academy's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jake Callahan, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Makaden Hunt also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Liberty Christian Academy never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Sandhills Classical Christian on Thursday. They came out on top against the Lions by a score of 12-8. With that victory, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
Bryan Bunnells was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. Bunnells was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Nick Reynoso was excellent, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). Alex Armstrong was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Liberty Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Christ the Cornerstone Academy pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Liberty Christian Academy, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-3.
