After losing to the East Hartford Hornets the last time they met, the Southington Blue Knights decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Southington strolled past East Hartford with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 52-36. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Southington.
Southington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Roxy Cardillo led the charge by scoring 16 points along with five steals. Cardillo hasn't dropped below three steals for four straight games. Lily Cooper was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Southington now has a winning record of 9-8. As for East Hartford, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southington will take on Simsbury at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Simsbury will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Southington surely won't give up without a fight. As for East Hartford, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Tolland at 5:15 p.m. on February 8th. Tolland is coming into the game with five straight defeats on the road, meaning East Hartford will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory.
