Basketball Game Preview: Chagrin Falls Tigers vs. Perry Pirates

Chagrin Falls hasn't had much luck against Perry recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Chagrin Falls Tigers will be home for the holidays to greet the Perry Pirates at 6:45 p.m. After both made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.

Perry is hoping to do what Orange couldn't on Tuesday: put an end to Chagrin Falls' winning streak, which now stands at four games. Chagrin Falls blew past Orange 57-23. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 21 points or more this season.

Chagrin Falls' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Russell, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards. The match was Russell's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Lilly Stukus, who posted 13 points in addition to eight boards and four steals.

Chagrin Falls smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Perry humbled Hawken with a 53-10 victory. That looming 53-10 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Pirates yet this season.

Chagrin Falls pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Perry, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season.
