Baseball Recap: Nokomis Gets the Win

Nokomis proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 11) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Meridian Hawks 5-4. The victory continues a trend for the Redskins in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won four in a row.

The team relied heavily on Nolan Herpstreith, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Kannon Jonas also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Nokomis hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Meridian struck out seven times.

Nokomis' record now sits at 15-12. As for Meridian, their loss was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-16.

Coming up, Nokomis will take on Bunker Hill at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Redskins are facing the Minutemen at the right time seeing as the Minutemen are stuck on a 15-game losing streak. As for Meridian, they will head out on the road to take on Shelbyville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Rams will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Hawks surely won't give up without a fight.
