The Modoc Braves will square off against the Mt. Shasta Bears at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Modoc is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Modoc got the win against Weed by a conclusive 19-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Braves.

Faith Marquez and Caelli DePaul made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Marquez pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, DePaul tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Marquez a new career-high in strikeouts (four). At the plate, Marquez went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while DePaul got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Modoc got a massive performance out of Macy Benson, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave Benson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madelyn Moltzen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and two RBI.
Modoc kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Burney hit Mt. Shasta with a four-run seventh inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bears fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 6-5. The loss continues a trend for the Bears in their meetings with the Raiders: they've now lost four in a row.
Kaley Lanier was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Lanier wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Emily Pigoni, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Mt. Shasta's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8-1. As for Modoc, their win bumped their record up to 8-9.
Modoc took their victory against Mt. Shasta in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-4 score. Will the Braves repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
