One team took the elevator way up and another took it way down in the power rankings this week. We'll tackle that and more in this week's report.
Can't Touch This
Cane Ridge's 47 - 35 win over Stewarts Creek last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Devon Starling. Starling ran for 235 yards and also punched in two touchdowns. That performance landed Starling among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between Memphis University (ranked 7th in TN) and South Panola (ranked 26th in MS). Memphis University strolled past South Panola with points to spare, taking the game 33 - 14. The win boosted Memphis University a satisfying five spots in the power rankings.
No Stoppin 'Em
Fulton managed to bank 323 more yards than its opponent Karns last week, and going the extra distance paid off. The final score between Fulton and Karns was a 70 - 14 blowout in Fulton's favor. One major factor in the win was the play of senior Robquan Thomas, who rushed for 98 yards and four touchdowns. At 84 total points, this was the highest scoring power ranking game of the week.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Blackman (9th in the power rankings) and Oakland (5th). Both teams have their heads held high after dominating their previous opponents. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both Blackman and Oakland put up some lofty point totals in their previous games, so things might heat up even more when they play one another this week.
