Pike County is 0-6 against Headland since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Pike County Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Headland Rams at 5:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Pike County suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 69-17 loss at the hands of New Brockton. Pike County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-8.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Headland, who are still winless after their 17th match. They were beaten by Carroll 55-19 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Headland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 420th, while Carroll is ranked 134th).
This is the second loss in a row for Pike County and nudges their season record down to 2-13. As for Headland, their defeat was their tenth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-17.
Pike County couldn't quite finish off Headland in their previous matchup back in January of 2022 and fell 44-42. Can Pike County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
