Softball Recap: Southwest SD Has No Trouble Against Castle Park

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hilltop, Southwest SD was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Castle Park Trojans with a sharp 18-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Daniela Nieto made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Nieto was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Southwest SD got a massive performance out of Baila Mu?oz, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and three doubles. Those four hits gave Mu?oz a new career-high. Michelle Rodriguez also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Southwest SD was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .829. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in 11 consecutive contests.

Southwest SD's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 9-6. As for Castle Park, they dropped their record down to 0-7 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Coincidentally, Southwest SD and Castle Park will both be playing San Ysidro the next time they take the field. The Raiders will head out to face the Cougars at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Trojans will head out to face them at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
