The Pascack Hills Broncos will face off against the Passaic Valley Hornets at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Pascack Hills took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Everything went their way against Tenafly as they made off with a 12-1 victory. The Broncos haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
John Giannantonio made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Giannantonio was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Kyle Wenckus was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Corey Ginsberg, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Pascack Hills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Passaic Valley won against Wayne Hills on Thursday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Hornets beat Eastside by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 10-6. The Hornets' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
The team relied heavily on Dante Benvenuti, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Benvenuti is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Giarrusso, who scored three runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Passaic Valley's win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Pascack Hills, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
