The Holyoke Dragons suffered their biggest defeat since December 8, 2023 on Tuesday. They were the victim of a tough 59-33 loss at the hands of Perkins County. Holyoke just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.
Despite the defeat, Holyoke saw an underclassman step up: Ellie Kleve dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Kleve's trending in the right direction, as she's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Anessa Colglazier, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and two blocks.
Kailee Potts was her usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds for Perkins County. That makes it five consecutive games in which Potts has scored at least a third of Perkins County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Potts, who scored 15 points.
Holyoke has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Perkins County, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.
Holyoke will be playing in front of their home fans against Chase County at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Chase County is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Perkins County, they will face off against Sedgwick County on Thursday. Sedgwick County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Perkins County in their respective states (Sedgwick County is ranked 24th in Colorado, while Perkins County is ranked 148th in Nebraska).
