It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Master's Academy had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past Sarasota Christian 54-20 at home. Fans of Master's Academy have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Master's Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Caleb Cotton led the charge by throwing for 258 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.2 yards per attempt, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Edison Blunt, who picked up 164 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Lake Mary Prep can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 46-16 victory over Four Corners.
Crete Emerton and Wade Brashears were among the main playmakers for Lake Mary Prep as the former threw for 132 yards and three touchdowns on only eight passes and the latter rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries. Brashears is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Beedle, who picked up 75 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Master's Academy pushed their record up to 10-0 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.9 points per game. As for Lake Mary Prep, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.
Master's Academy took their win against Lake Mary Prep in their previous meeting back in September by a conclusive 36-12.
