The Effingham County Rebels's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They fell 55-47 to Evans. Effingham County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Evans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Effingham County's loss came despite strong showings from Taniya Proctor and Kyjana Jordan. Proctor dropped a double-double on 14 points and 20 rebounds, while Jordan scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Proctor has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ansleigh Giordano, who scored three points along with four steals.
Evans' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kimariya Hinton, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Hinton scored 15 or more points. Charity Joyner was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with four steals.
Effingham County dropped their record down to 4-14 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Evans, their win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-18.
Effingham County will take on Grovetown at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Evans, they will head out on the road to challenge Lakeside at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lakeside presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Evans in Georgia (Lakeside is ranked 99th, while Evans is ranked 451st).
