After both having extra time off, the Olympus Titans and the Viewmont Vikings will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Olympus and 15 for Viewmont.
Last Friday, Olympus came up short against Bountiful and fell 3-1. While the Titans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Redhawks 25-21 in the first set.
Olympus started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-21, 25-12, 25-23.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kimari Matsuura, who had 24 digs and two aces. Another player making a difference was Senia Benson, who had nine digs and four aces.
Meanwhile, Viewmont didn't have quite enough to beat Alta on Tuesday and fell 3-2.
Viewmont wouldn't go down easily and took Alta into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking six-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-23, 26-28, 20-25, 15-9.
Viewmont's defeat dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Olympus, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.
Olympus took their victory against Viewmont when the teams last played back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
