Last Friday, Williams beat CORE Butte 65-54. With that win, Williams brought their scoring average up to 50.5 points per game.
Williams relied on the efforts of Diego Ambriz, who scored 25 points along with six rebounds and two blocks, and Kyden Bowen, who scored 30 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bowen has scored all season. Luis Hernandez was another key contributor, scoring three points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Biggs put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They really took it to Maxwell for the full four quarters, racking up a 72-32 victory on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Biggs has posted yet this season.
Biggs' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emilio Vera, who scored 17 points along with six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Smith, who scored 18 points along with two steals.
Williams has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-12 record this season. As for Biggs, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-5.
Tuesday's game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Bowen and Vera. Bowen has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 15.6 points and 1.6 rebounds. For his part, Vera has averaged 12.4 points, 2.6 steals, and 1.5 blocks.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Williams hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 50.5 points per game. It's a different story for Biggs, though, as they've been averaging only 60.2 points per game. The only thing between Williams and another offensive beatdown is Biggs.
