COTTONWOOD, Calif. - the Eagles scored 26 points in the first quarter to secure a big 35-6 victory over
Corning (Calif.) on Saturday.
West Valley scored on a
Kody Karpinski touchdown pass to
Austin Clark, a touchdown pass by Karpinski to
Marcus Simmons, an Clark touchdown run and a Karpinski touchdown pass to Simmons in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a Karpinski touchdown pass to Clark in the first quarter, WV was up 29-0 at the half.
The Cottonwood school expanded its lead to 35 points entering the fourth quarter. The Eagles scored once in the quarter on a passing touchdown.
With the win West Valley extended its winning streak to seven games. West Valley defeated Anderson 63-7 last week.
Corning's lone touchdown came on a defensive touchdown in the fourth quarter.
The Cardinals came in allowing just 13.2 points per game this season. Corning struggled against West Valley's offense, which entered the game scoring 34.6 points per game. The Cottonwood school had given up an average of 9.2 points prior to the contest. Corning's six points were well below its season average of 30.9 per game.
The loss comes after Corning defeated Yreka 49-6 last week. The loss snapped Corning's two-game winning streak.
