The Sam Houston Broncos will head out on the road to square off against the Iowa Yellowjackets at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Sam Houston has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Iowa will arrive with 18 straight victories.
Last Tuesday, Sam Houston ended up a good deal behind New Iberia and lost 46-32. While losing is never fun, Sam Houston can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while New Iberia is ranked tenth).
Meanwhile, Iowa can now show off 13 landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat St. Louis Catholic 66-37 on the road.
Sam Houston's defeat dropped their record down to 16-13. As for Iowa, they pushed their record up to 27-3 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Sam Houston took a serious blow against Iowa in their previous matchup back in January of 2022, falling 66-36. Can Sam Houston avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
