After three games on the road, Fremont is heading back home. They will take on the Lincoln Southeast Knights at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Fremont will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 206th, while Lincoln Southeast is ranked 57th).
Last Saturday, Fremont was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 54-48 to Lincoln High.
Despite their loss, Fremont saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jenna Mcclain, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Kate Denker was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Lincoln Southeast came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 50-39 victory over Lincoln East.
Fremont's loss was their tenth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-11. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.9 points per game. As for Lincoln Southeast, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.
Fremont was able to grind out a solid victory over Lincoln Southeast in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, winning 54-46. Will Fremont repeat their success, or does Lincoln Southeast have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
