Freeport is on a four-game streak of home losses, Oceanside a three-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Freeport Red Devils will take on the Oceanside Sailors at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
On Tuesday, Freeport came up short against Uniondale and fell 52-41. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Freeport in their matchups with Uniondale: they've now lost four in a row.
Defeat or not, Freeport got some senior leadership from Elijah Darby and Jevon Saul. Darby scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks, while Saul. scored eight points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. Darby is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season.
Meanwhile, Oceanside also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Hempstead by a score of 60-48.
Freeport's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Oceanside, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Freeport was taken down by Oceanside 61-29 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Freeport was down 34-7.
