The Cusick Panthers were the 62-47 winner over the Curlew Cougars when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Cusick ended up on the wrong side of a rough 58-36 walloping at the hands of Curlew on Friday. Cusick has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Emma Lena Baker continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Curlew, scoring 24 points along with 8 rebounds and 7 assists. The game was Baker's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Annika Baker, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Cusick's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Curlew, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cusick will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Selkirk at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. As for Curlew, they will head out on the road to face off against Republic at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
