Basketball Game Preview: Booker Tornadoes vs. Calvary Christian Warriors

Booker hasn't had much luck against Calvary Christian recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Booker Tornadoes just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Calvary Christian Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Thursday, Booker needed a bit of extra time to put away Palmetto. They came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 67-60. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Tornadoes' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 324th, while the Tigers are ranked 122nd).

Booker's success was spearheaded by the efforts of J.P Lattimore, who posted 22 points, and Chris Perets, who earned 20 points. Perets' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Darius Behn, who scored ten points.

Meanwhile, Calvary Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their 14-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 82-61 to Victory Christian Academy. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (59), the Warriors still had to take the loss.

Booker has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.2 points per game. As for Calvary Christian, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 21-3.

Booker was dealt a bruising 70-32 loss at the hands of Calvary Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2021. Thankfully for Booker, Ace Taylor (who went 8 of 10 on his way to 21 points and six rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
