Basketball Recap: St. John's/Tipton Catholic Piles Up the Points Against Lakeside

St. John's/Tipton Catholic won against Sylvan-Lucas last Monday with 70 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. The St. John's/Tipton Catholic Blujays blew past the Lakeside Knights 70-37. The Blujays have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 33 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Edward Horinek, who went 14 of 25 on his way to 32 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tyson Gates, who posted six points and four steals.

St. John's/Tipton Catholic was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakeside only racked up six assists.

Lakeside's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reece Remus, who put up seven points and seven boards. Ryker Remus was another key player, putting up five points.

The win (which was St. John's/Tipton Catholic's fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.3 points per game. As for Lakeside, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 8-2 record.

St. John's/Tipton Catholic will welcome Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Lincoln will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something St. John's/Tipton Catholic surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lakeside, they will be taking part in a tournament against Thunder Ridge at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
