The Panama Panthers lost against the Clymer Central Pirates back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Panama was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 51-50 to the Pirates. While losing is never fun, Panama can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 457th, while the Pirates are ranked 185th).
It was another big night for Alexys Neckers, who scored 40 points along with eight rebounds and six steals for Clymer Central. That makes it six consecutive games in which Neckers has scored at least a third of Clymer Central's points. Another player making a difference was Ava Nyweide, who scored seven points.
Panama's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Clymer Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season.
Panama will head out on the road to square off against the Black Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Silver Creek is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Clymer Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Red Dragons at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Maple Grove and the Pirates are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
