4A Division 2 recap November 5, 2013
Ames extended the longest winning streak in 4A Division 2 this week by beating Urbandale, 72-37. The win marks 11th in a row for the the Little Cyclones.
Sioux City North fell to Valley 69-13 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Johnston's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Mike Mahanna threw for 110 yards and Jared Seay had 23 yards receiving. On the ground Grant Collison contributed 87 yards. Regen Siems helped Johnston's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 24 yards.
Seay was the best wideout in the league this week as the Dragons lost to Sioux City East. Seay racked up 3 receptions for 23 yards. Siems helped Johnston's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 24 yards.
Johnston's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Dragons feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Mahanna has thrown for 1,523 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, while Andrew Heuss has 43 catches for 859 yards.
Ames made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,310 from 1,518. The advance stemmed from a 72-37 victory over the J-Hawks last week.
