The Streator Bulldogs lost against the Wilmington Wildcats back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Streator took a 31-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wilmington. Streator has struggled against Wilmington recently, as their game on Monday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Streator still got an impressive performance from Mina James, who scored four points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Those eight rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Jade Williams, who scored four points.
Even though they lost, Streator were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Leading Wilmington to victory were Lexi Liaromatis and Sami Liaromatis. Liaromatis scored 11 points along with four steals, while Liaromatis scored eight points along with 12 rebounds. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her.
Streator bumped their record down to 1-20 with that loss, which was their 21st straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.3 points per game. As for Wilmington, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Streator won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Herscher at 6:45 p.m. on January 9th. Herscher is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Wilmington, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Reed-Custer at 6:45 p.m.
