Dodd City and Honey Grove are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Hornets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dodd City has given up an average of 12 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Dodd City lost 18-3 to Tioga on Friday. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Dodd City saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddox Lappin, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-2. Lappin is becoming a predictor of the Hornets' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 2-10 when he doesn't).
Meanwhile, Honey Grove entered their tilt with Tom Bean on Friday with seven consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with eight. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Tomcats.
Jarrmez Daniels was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Daniels was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Levi Beavers was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Brody Mahan, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Honey Grove's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Dodd City, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Dodd City has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Honey Grove struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Dodd City was able to grind out a solid win over Honey Grove in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 8-4. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
