The Fruitport Trojans's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Whitehall Vikings at 3:00 p.m. on December 27th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Fruitport escaped with a win against Comstock Park by the margin of a single free throw, 53-52. Given Fruitport's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 210th, while Comstock Park is ranked 614th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Whitehall put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 70-52 win over East Grand Rapids.
It was another big night for Camden Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. The match was his seventh in a row with at least ten points. Kal Koehler was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with seven rebounds.
Fruitport's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Whitehall, they pushed their record up to 7-0 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
Fruitport beat Whitehall 77-69 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fruitport since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
