Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 20 to 4 on the offensive boards, a fact the West Ashley Wildcats proved on Tuesday. They managed a 55-49 victory over Stall. For West Ashley, this counts as revenge for the 57-22 loss Stall walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
West Ashley can attribute much of their success to Ella Crowe, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Crowe scored 15 or more points. Lacy Gerald was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Despite the loss, Stall still got an impressive performance from Makayla Waiters, who scored 20 points along with six steals and five assists. Another player making a difference was Brianna Williams, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
West Ashley's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Stall, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-7 record this season.
West Ashley will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Summerville at 6:30 p.m. Summerville presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than West Ashley in South Carolina (Summerville is ranked 21st, while West Ashley is ranked 108th). As for Stall, they will head out on the road to challenge Fort Dorchester at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
