For the first time this season, Mountain View will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out on the road to challenge the Heritage Timberwolves at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Heritage took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Mountain View, who comes in off a win.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Mountain View turned things around against Fort Vancouver on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Trappers by a score of 9-4.
Emily Palomino made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Palomino was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Gracie Single was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, four RBI, and one run. Aylia Mathieson also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Mountain View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Heritage might've scored the first runs on Tuesday, but it was Union who claimed the real prize. The Timberwolves fell just short of the Titans by a score of 6-4. The loss continues a trend for the Timberwolves in their meetings with the Titans: they've now lost eight in a row.
Like Mountain View, Heritage also got a great game from a two-way player: Jaila Ellis. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Ellis has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Kylie Thomas made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Heritage's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Mountain View, their record is now 3-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Mountain View hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Heritage struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Mountain View might still be hurting after the 12-4 loss they got from Heritage in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Thunder avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
