The Avoca-Prattsburgh Titans will square off against the Addison Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Avoca-Prattsburgh comes in on 12 and Addison on three.
On Tuesday, Avoca-Prattsburgh got the win against Hammondsport by a conclusive 19-5. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.
AJ McIntyre was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. McIntyre was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Avoca-Prattsburgh got a massive performance out of Addy Stonw, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Meyah Putnam was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.
Avoca-Prattsburgh always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .531 or higher in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Addison won against Campbell-Savona on Thursday with 17 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Knights were the clear victors by a 17-4 margin over Jasper-Troupsburg. The matchup marked the Knights' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Like Avoca-Prattsburgh, Addison also got a great game from a two-way player: Claire Thompson. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Thompson was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with five stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lillian Atwood and Ava Knowles did most of the damage at the plate: Atwood got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Knowles got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Atwood has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Brown, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Avoca-Prattsburgh's win bumped their record up to 9-0. As for Addison, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Avoca-Prattsburgh has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Addison struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
