Logan County has gone 9-1 against Todd County Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Cougars will venture away from home to square off against the Rebels at 5:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Logan County sitting on four straight wins and Todd County Central on five.
Logan County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They had just enough and edged out Russell County 17-16 on Saturday. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by just one run.
Logan County got a massive performance out of EJ Walker, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Walker has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyndon Wilson, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Logan County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
While Todd County Central didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over Heritage Christian Academy on Thursday.
Ty Jolly was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Jolly was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played.
In other batting news, Peyton Ortiz was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Conner Wheeler, who earned one run and two stolen bases.
Todd County Central's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Logan County, their record is now 12-5.
Logan County took their win against Todd County Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
