Spring Mills won against Mercersburg Academy on Wednesday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Cardinals were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Hedgesville Eagles. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Taryn Close was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 11 games.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexis Wagner, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs.

Spring Mills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 12-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Spring Mills has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Hedgesville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-12-1.

Spring Mills does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hedgesville, they will welcome Martinsburg at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
