The Caro Tigers had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They rang in the new year with a 53-43 win over Unionville-Sebewaing. Given Caro's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 313th, while Unionville-Sebewaing is ranked 636th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Caro found their leader in underclassman Connor McGarry, who scored 18 points along with four steals. The match was McGarry's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Langmaid, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Caro's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.2 points per game. As for Unionville-Sebewaing, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Caro will take on Cass City at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cass City is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Unionville-Sebewaing, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Vassar at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Vassar is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
