Rider has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Brewer Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rider will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 649th, while Brewer is ranked 68th).
On Wednesday, Rider was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 56-51 to Aledo.
Rider's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Caiden Reed, who scored 20 points, and Gavin Aday who scored 15 points. Reed hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games.
Meanwhile, Brewer had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They walked away with a 41-30 win over Granbury.
Rider has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for Brewer, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season.
Rider took a serious blow against Brewer in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 61-20. Can Rider avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
