The George Ranch Longhorns will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Stratford Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but George Ranch had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They skirted past Katy Taylor 21-19.
George Ranch's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Deion Drinkard, who threw for 119 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Stratford had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.3 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. They really took it to Westbury for the full four quarters, racking up a 62-22 victory on the road. Considering Stratford has won six matches by more than 23 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Stratford can attribute much of their success to Aaron Deleon, who threw for 282 yards and four touchdowns, and Hunter Biehl, who gained 200 total yards and four touchdowns. Stratford also got help from Braxton Wakefield who showed off his sure hands for 88 receiving yards.
George Ranch's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Stratford, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.
