Even though the Anson Bearcats scored an imposing 61 points on Friday, the Piedmont Panthers still came out on top. Piedmont took their matchup against Anson 74-61. The win made it back-to-back wins for Piedmont.
Miles Leaks was his usual excellent self, scoring 28 points along with five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Piedmont's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryan Little, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Jayden Little and Ryan Robinson certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Little scored 29 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, while Robinson scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That was a full 47.5% of Anson's points, marking the ninth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Piedmont pushed their record up to 10-8 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for Anson, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Piedmont will take on Monroe at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Monroe knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Piedmont likes a good challenge. As for Anson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Central Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for Central Academy and three for Anson.
