Orlando Christian Prep's pitchers stepped up to hand Circle Christian an 8-0 shutout on Tuesday. Carter Reis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 17 over 6.1 innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brayden Schuster, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Another player making a difference was Seth Vasquez, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-3.
Orlando Christian Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Circle Christian only managed two hits.
Meanwhile, Calvary Chapel Academy was not the first on the board on Thursday, but they got there more often. They won by a run and slipped past City of Life Christian Academy 12-11. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.
Mauricio Urdaneta made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Urdaneta was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Aiden Bishop was incredible, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Conner Wolfe was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Orlando Christian Prep pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Calvary Chapel Academy, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
Calvary Chapel Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Orlando Christian Prep has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.3 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Calvary Chapel Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts.
