The North Lincoln Knights will head out to face off against the Foard Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Foard will be up against a hot North Lincoln squad: the team just extended their winning streak to 12. The Knights blew past Bunker Hill 11-2 on Tuesday. North Lincoln's win was all the more impressive since the Bears were averaging only 2.55 runs allowed on the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Foard). They never let Newton-Conover get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Tigers needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
K Sigmon made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other pitching news, Sophia Rhoney looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Foard got a massive performance out of L Wolf, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. Those four RBI gave Wolf a new career-high. R Robertson was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Foard kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
North Lincoln's record is now 20-2. As for Foard, their record now sits at 14-6.
North Lincoln skirted past Foard 3-1 in their previous matchup back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
