Gray's Creek gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They walked away with a 25-18 win over the Pine Forest Trojans. This was payback for the Bears, who suffered a 61-49 loss the last time these two teams met.

Gray's Creek had a senior duo take command as David Bostic picked up 95 receiving yards and two touchdowns and Ezekiel Reed rushed for 84 yards and one score on only eight carries. Reed's longest rush was for an impressive 58 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Alphonso Myers helped out on the ground, rushing for 82 yards.

Gray's Creek's run defense was locked in: Pine Forest could only muster 1.7 yards per carry. While three picked up at least five total tackles, Reed stood above the rest. He rushed for 84 yards and one TD on only eight carries. Gray's Creek's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 5.4.

Gray's Creek's defense didn't let Jaidon Moore., get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Aiden Keola, Christian Burnette, and Zeek Howard, who each picked up one sack apiece. Gray's Creek got some further help from Keola: he picked up a sack and made seven total tackles in addition to snagging an interception.

Pine Forest lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Moore, who threw for 205 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also punched in one score on the ground. Pine Forest's leading receiver Perry Moore was Jaidon's top target yet again, picking up 96 receiving yards and one TD.

Gray's Creek has already played their next game, a 37-33 victory against Westover on the 29th. As for Pine Forest, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 42-7 defeat against Terry Sanford on the 29th.
