Wayne is 1-9 against Northmont since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Warriors will host the Thunderbolts at 5:00 p.m. Wayne has given up an average of 8.6 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Springboro hit Wayne with a four-run sixth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warriors came up short against the Panthers, falling 11-1.
Wayne saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reagan Ames, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, while it was Northmont who put the first runs on the board on Thursday, it was Fairmont who put up more. The Thunderbolts fell just short of the Firebirds by a score of 6-5.
Audrey Brown (2029) made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Adee Kautz (2027), who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run.
Wayne's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Northmont, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-9.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Wayne hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. However, it's not like Northmont struggles in that department as they've averaged .342. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Wayne came out on top in a nail-biter against Northmont when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Thunderbolts have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
