Softball Recap: Blacksher Has No Trouble Against W.S. Neal

While Blacksher put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for W.S. Neal. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 10-0 victory. Considering the Bulldogs have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Anna Grace Hollinger was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kadence Dailey and Emeri Ikner did most of the damage at the plate: Dailey scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Ikner got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was Ikner's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Laney Saucer, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Blacksher hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 14-3 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Blacksher's win bumped their record up to 18-11. As for W.S. Neal, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season.

Blacksher will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Clarke County at 4:00 p.m. As for W.S. Neal, they will head out on the road to challenge Escambia County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Blue Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.75 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
