Baseball Recap: St. John's Christian Academy Find Success

St. John's Christian Academy won against Patrick Henry Academy last Thursday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Cavaliers beat the Colleton Prep Academy War Hawks by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-2. For the Cavaliers, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 victory the War Hawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Sumter Moorer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for St. John's Christian Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Aiden McCoy was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Rowdy Langdon, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

St. John's Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive contests.

St. John's Christian Academy now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Colleton Prep Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season.

Colleton Prep Academy will take on Andrew Jackson Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The War Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season. St. John's Christian Academy will be paying especially close attention to Colleton Prep Academy's match: after Colleton Prep Academy faces off against Andrew Jackson Academy, they'll take on St. John's Christian Academy again at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
