Asotin had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They never let the Newport Grizzlies get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 11 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

CODY ELLS was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, COLT KELLEY was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. SAM HALL was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

Asotin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .407 or higher in four consecutive games.

Asotin's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Newport, their loss dropped their record down to 15-5.

Coming up, Asotin is taking a road trip to square off against Chewelah at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Panthers 3.3, the Cougars 1.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Newport does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
