Jackie Ramirez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jaden Lopez was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Kenzie Cantu was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Garces Memorial's hitters rose to the challenge against a Mustangs pitching crew that boasted an average of only 3.23 runs allowed on Friday. The Rams put the hurt on Stockdale with a sharp 10-3 win. Considering the Rams have won 12 matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Garces Memorial also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Jaiden Gutierrez gave up three earned runs on nine hits and racked up 12 Ks.
On the hitting side, Viviana Sanchez was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Lila Gannaway, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Garces Memorial kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.
Redwood's record is now 24-7. As for Garces Memorial, their record now sits at 25-5.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Redwood hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .358. However, it's not like Garces Memorial struggles in that department as they've averaged .352. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
