If Families Instructing Students HomeSchool was riding high fresh off their 49-7 takedown of Winter Haven Christian on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Families Instructing Students HomeSchool Hawks took a 41-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Excel Christian Academy Spartans on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, with their most recent loss being a 40-34 defeat back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Families Instructing Students HomeSchool lost, don't look at Melody Lee. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds. Lee has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Julianna Lamon, who posted eight points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Excel Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bianca Berbick led the charge by putting up 17 points and five boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Berbick has scored at least a third of Excel Christian Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aysia Mertz, who had 12 points and eight rebounds.

Families Instructing Students HomeSchool's defeat dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Excel Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 14-12.
