After a string of four wins, the Prairie View Thunderhawks's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 75-30 loss at the hands of Rocky Mountain. Prairie View has not had much luck with Rocky Mountain recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Prairie View lost, one person who can't be blamed is Celicia Robles. Despite the final result, she scored 18 points along with two steals. Robles is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season.
It was another big night for Sara Chicco, who went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points and 1 assist for Rocky Mountain. Chicco is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Meela Delap, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Prairie View's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Rocky Mountain, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Prairie View will challenge Poudre at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Poudre focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Friday. Rocky Mountain won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Timnath at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th. Timnath is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
