Small Schools State Player of the Year: Cielo Meza, St. Bonaventure (Ventura), SeniorCielo went 21-5 with a 0.57 ERA and struck out 348 batters in 158 innings, leading the Seraphs to the Southern Section D-5 championship and a 22-7 season.
For the season, she allowed just 52 base hits, walked 17 and was named the CIF Southern Section D-5 Player of the Year.
Meza was at her best in the postseason, when she pitched four shutouts and allowed just one run in five games. She struck out 83 (in 36 innings) and pitched a pair of no-hitters and two one-hitters. The Long Beach State signee struck out 10 or more batters in a game 22 times this season and recorded 15 or more in 11 games. She also hit .324.

Small Schools State Team of the Year: HughsonHughson won the Sac-Joaquin Section Division 5 championship, winning their first 21 games before falling to Ripon in the
best-of-three SJS title series. The Huskies bounced
back to win the title with a 7-2 victory.
On the season, Hughson outscored its
opponents 221-32 and scored 10 or more runs in a game a dozen times.
The Huskies also blanked 10 opponents.
Led by senior all-state honorees
Courtney Thornhill (.565 batting average),
Mackenzie Babbitt (.571) and
Jessica Garcia (.535), the Huskies batted .434 as a team. Thornhill was 21-1 in the circle with a 0.98 ERA.
Small Schools State Coach of the Year: Rod Cree, HughsonCree led Hughson to its fifth-straight SJS D-5 title in 2015.
His last four teams have a combined won-loss record of 94-12. Seven times in the last 10 years, his Huskies have won 20 or more games in a season and in his career at Hughson, the Huskies have never had a double-digit losing season.

P - Hailey Dolcini, Fortuna, SophomoreBig numbers for Dolcini ... 23-5, 356 strikeouts and 0.43 ERA in 178 innings. She also batted .430 for the North Coast Section D-5 runners-up.
P - Sara Stephenson, Sutter, SeniorStephenson, who will attend Montana, had 29 wins, 339 strikeouts and led Sutter to the Northern Section D-4 title.
P - Marina Vitalich, Mary Star of the Sea (San Pedro), SeniorThe George Mason-bound Vitalich was 22-4 with a 0.54 ERA and 367 strikeouts. She had 18 shutouts and 24 complete games and put her name in the record books, as her 1,154 career strikeouts put her eighth all-time in the Southern Section.
P - Nerissa Long, Bear River (Grass Valley), JuniorOpponents batted just .093 against Long, who won 17 games, posted a 0.74 ERA and struck out 203 in 132 innings. She also drove in 20 runs in a 23-8 season that ended with a loss in the SJS D-5 semifinals.
P - Kylie Ragsdale, Waterford, SeniorRagsdale, who has signed with Simpson College, won 21 games and struck out 244 batters in 169 innings. She also batted .537 with 20 extra-base hits and 28 RBIs in 28 games.
P - Courtney Thornhill, Hughson, SeniorThornhill led the Tigers to the SJS D-5 title with a 0.98 ERA and a 21-1 record. She had 156 strikeouts in 128 innings, and she batted .536 with 10 doubles and 36 RBIs.
P - Danielle Sperry, Ripon, JuniorSperry went 21-5 and compiled a 0.92 ERA in leading the Indians to the SJS D-5 final. She averaged a strikeout per inning in 160 innings and allowed just 14 extr- base hits in 661 batters faced. She has committed to Oregon State.
P - Leah Lafata, Mariposa County, SophomoreLafata went 19-2 with a 0.93 ERA and 172 strikeouts in 127 innings as Mariposa County won the SJS D-6 title. She also batted .404, scoring 42 runs.
P - Carli Lewis, Lassen (Susanville), SophomoreLassen was 35-5 and Lewis won 25 of them (three losses) and posted a 1.22 ERA with 173 strikeouts in 154 innings. Lassen lost 3-2 to Sutter in the Northern Section D-4 final.
C – Taylor Pack, Sutter, SeniorThe UCLA-bound Pack closed out a sterling four-year career with .551 batting average, 57 runs, 70 hits, 45 RBIs, 21 doubles and 16 stolen bases as the Huskies won the NS D-4 title.
C - Sydney Cross, Mt. Shasta, SophomoreCross had a .615 average, 10 home runs and 53 RBIs and was named the Shasta Cascade League MVP for the second-straight season.
C - Kiannah Molina, Sierra Pacific (Hanford), SeniorMolina led the Golden Bears to a 20-7 record with team highs in batting average (.594), hits (57), RBIs (42), doubles (15), home runs (7) and slugging and on-base percentages. She has signed with Seminole State.
C - Jenna Rodelo, Rowland (Rowland Heights), JuniorRodelo was named to the D-5 and Valley Vista League first teams for the second-straight year, batting .591 with 43 RBIs, eight doubles and seven home runs.
IF - Charlotte Pond, Rolling Hills Prep (San Pedro), FreshmanPond made an immediate impact with nine homers to go with a .568 average and 33 RBIs. She had a base hit in all but one game.
IF - Kailey Harvey, Calvary Christian Academy (Chula Vista), SeniorHarvey batted .690, drove in 80 runs, collected 28 doubles and had 42 extra-base hits as the Royal Knights went deep into the playoffs. She also stole 27 bases and struck out 67 batters in 27 innings pitched.
IF - Sydney Townes, Cabrillo (Lompoc), SeniorNamed the Lompoc-area Player of the Year, Townes batted .574 with 31 stolen bases and 32 runs in 19 games. She will attend Santa Barbara City College.
IF - Kaila Searcy, Paraclete (Lancaster), JuniorSearcy hit 22 homers, drove in 74 runs and batted .668 to lead Paraclete to the SS D-6 title. Searcy, who has committed to Central Arkansas, was 16-1 in the circle with a 0.65 ERA and struck out 1.5 batters per inning.
IF - Ashley Diaz, South El Monte, SeniorNamed the Mission Valley League Most Valuable Player for the second-straight season, the University of Arkansas commit was impressive again, batting .561 with 42 RBIs, 10 home runs and nine doubles for the MVL champions.
IF - Jessica Garcia, Hughson, SeniorThe four-year standout closed out with a .535 batting average, .607 on-base percentage and accounted for 70 runs (43 scored) as the Tigers went 22-1 and won the SJS D-5 title. She has signed with Oregon State.

IF - Bradi Kooyman, Elliot Christian (Lodi), JuniorIt was another impressive season for Kooyman: .747 batting average, 15 triples, 10 doubles, 65 RBIs and 63 runs as the Eagles went 20-9. She has committed to Missouri.
IF - Mia Torres, Lassen, JuniorTorres drove in 47 runs and had 23 extra-base hits to go along with her .450 batting average. She had 59 base hits and scored 43 runs for 35-5 NS D-4 runners-up.
IF - Sarah Reyes, Scotts Valley, SeniorIn leading Scotts Valley to the CCS D-3 title game, Reyes batted .528, scored 34 runs, drove in 30 and knocked 19 extra-base hits. She also won 13 games, posted a 1.09 ERA and struck out 112 in 102 innings. Named the SCCAL Pitcher of the Year, Reyes has signed with Lewis & Clark College.
IF - Mackenzie Babbitt, Hughson, SeniorBabbitt led the 22-1 SJS D-5 champions in hitting with a .571 mark. She scored 33 times and drove in 25. She has signed with Cal State Northridge.
OF - Caitlyn Gravel, Sutter, SeniorGravel batted .447 with 67 hits as Sutter won NS D-4 title again and finished 27-6. She also scored 56 runs and was perfect on 37 stolen base attempts.
OF - Annie Rose Moore, Northridge Academy, FreshmanIn leading Northridge Academy to the LA City Section D-4 title, Moore homered nine times, batted .616 and drove in 47 runs. She also had nine doubles and nine triples.
OF - Valerie Lopez, Orange Cove, JuniorLopez stole 43 bases, batted .588 and scored 30 times as Orange Cove won the Central Section D-6 title.
OF - Livy Schiele, Bishop's (La Jolla), JuniorSchiele batted .621, scored 52 times, had 24 RBIs, knocked 15 extra-base hits, stole 26 bases without getting caught and did not strike out during the season. Named the Coastal League's Player of the Year, Schiele had two or more base hits 18 times. She has committed to Auburn.
UTIL - Noemi Farfan, Calvary Christian Academy (Chula Vista), FreshmanFarfan won 20 games and struck out 286 in 115 innings. She also batted .753 with 93 RBIs, 61 hits and 65 runs and did so in only 24 games. Farfan had 63 stolen bases in as many attempts and had 39 extra-base hits, including 27 doubles, as Calvary Christian reached the San Diego Section D-5 finals.
UTIL - Cassidy Cangemi, Albert Einstein Academy (Santa Clarita), FreshmanCangemi had big numbers in the box (.700 batting average, 58 RBIs, 13 home runs) and in the circle (205 strikeouts in just 92 innings and a 0.84 ERA to go with a 14-3 won-loss mark).
UTIL - Chloe Romero, Academy of Careers & Exploration (Helendale), SophomoreRomero won 18 games, posted a 1.60 ERA and 265 strikeouts in 144 innings. She also batted .475, scored 46 runs and drove in 27.
UTIL - Isabella Berouty, Rolling Hills Prep (San Pedro), JuniorBerouty pitched a perfect game with 11 strikeouts in RHP's 10-0 win over ACE in the Southern Section D-7 final. She allowed only one earned run during the final nine weeks of the season. Offensively, she led RHP with a .488 average, five homers and 42 RBIs.
