Basketball Recap: Germantown Friends Piles Up the Points Against Girard College

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Germantown Friends). They blew past the Girard College Cavaliers 86-44 on Saturday. The victory was all the more spectacular given Germantown Friends' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while Girard College is ranked 27th).

Several Cavaliers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Abdul-Raheem Devlin, who posted 16 points and six boards. Those 16 points gave Devlin a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Amadu Mansaray, who earned nine points.

The win made it two in a row for Germantown Friends and bumps their season record up to 4-6. As for Girard College, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Germantown Friends will welcome Maritime Academy Charter at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Girard College and Friends Select will round out the year against one another at at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. Friends Select will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Girard College surely won't give up without a fight.
