The Century Centurions will head out to take on the Crab Orchard Trojans at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Century will be strutting in after a win while Crab Orchard will be coming in after a defeat.
On Friday, Century got the win against Meridian by a conclusive 19-1. The Centurions haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Kali Crain was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Layla Helman looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Allie Sauerbrunn, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Hayden Anderson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Century always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .658. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Meridian only posted an OBP of .133.
Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Crab Orchard's offense. They lost 10-0 to Red Bud on Saturday. The Trojans' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
Century's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-7. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Crab Orchard, their defeat dropped their record down to 25-3.
Century's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's matchup. The Centurions have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Crab Orchard, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Century continue to outrun the ball?
Century couldn't quite get it done against Crab Orchard in their previous meeting back in May of 2018 as they fell 14-10. Can the Centurions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
