Dorman's loss came about despite a quality game from Morgan White, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. White is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Autmn Dawkins, who posted eight points and six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Dorman smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in seven consecutive games.
Meanwhile, South Pointe put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 76-32 victory over Denmark-Olar. With the Stallions ahead 44-16 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Dorman better focus on containing Serenity Woods and Kaleigh Lucas as the pair were huge in South Pointe's win. Woods went 7 of 15 on her way to 19 points and three steals, while Lucas went 6 of 12 on her way to 17 points and six rebounds. That's the most rebounds Lucas has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of JaNyia Cunningham, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards.
South Pointe pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 44.2 points. As for Dorman, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Dorman has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 35.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like South Pointe struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.6 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Dorman ended up a good deal behind South Pointe in their previous matchup back in December of 2021, losing 64-50. Can Dorman avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
