The Dayspring Christian Academy Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Forge Christian Fury at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Dayspring Christian Academy sitting on eight straight victories and Forge Christian on three.
Last Friday, Dayspring Christian Academy got the win against Byers by a conclusive 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won five games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Gage Davis was a standout: he scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Gavin Bohl also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Dayspring Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive contests.
Denver Christian typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Forge Christian proved too difficult a challenge. They put the hurt on the Thunder with a sharp 10-3 win. Ten seems to be a good number for the Fury as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Brock Wycoff made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Jonah Boykin was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Burke Jasa, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Dayspring Christian Academy pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Forge Christian, their record now sits at 7-2.
Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Dayspring Christian Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. However, it's not like Forge Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .336. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
